The Role

As one of the first points of contact within the school, you'll play a key role in supporting pupils, parents, visitors and staff on a daily basis. This is a busy and varied position requiring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities throughout the day.

No two days are ever quite the same, but you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the school office and administrative systems.

Key Responsibilities

Reception & School Office Duties

  • Managing the busy school reception area and welcoming visitors.

  • Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries professionally.

  • Monitoring and responding to administration and attendance email inboxes.

  • Managing visitor sign-in procedures through the school's Inventry system.

  • Supporting parents and carers with general enquiries.

  • Assisting with admissions and general office administration.

Attendance Administration

  • Recording pupil absences and late arrivals.

  • Monitoring attendance registers using Arbor.

  • Making first-day absence contact with parents and carers via text, email or telephone.

  • Updating attendance records accurately throughout the day.

  • Producing daily attendance and evacuation reports.

School Meals Administration

  • Collecting and processing daily lunch orders.

  • Liaising with the catering provider to provide accurate meal numbers.

  • Recording meal information within ParentPay.

  • Managing last-minute lunch requests and amendments.

Administrative Support

  • Maintaining pupil records and school databases.

  • Processing letters, forms and payments received through classes.

  • Managing communications to parents and carers.

  • Supporting the leadership team with administrative tasks and correspondence.

  • Assisting with school newsletters and whole-school communications.

  • Managing school shop orders and preparing items for collection.

  • Updating pupil collection permissions and authorised adult records.

Have previous school administration experience (needed).

  • Have experience of Arbor, SIMS, Bromcom or similar school management systems.

  • Are confident using Microsoft Office applications.

  • Possess excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Can manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.

  • Are proactive, adaptable and able to remain calm under pressure.

  • Have a friendly, approachable and professional manner.

  • Understand the importance of confidentiality when working in a school environment.

We're looking for teachers who are:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experienced within UK primary schools

  • Confident managing the classroom and behaviour positively

  • Adaptable, reliable and enthusiastic

  • Passionate about making a difference in every school they visit

  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to obtain one)

  • Have the right to work in the UK
